I have a humble request for the developers: could we get a new disctrict policy in order to restrict service vehicles (police, garbage trucks, ambulances...) to their own districts?
Sometimes I see ambulances going to the other side of the map and that doesn't help at all with traffic.. :p

Then maybe the hard rule should be for small stations only?

There not need of an hard rule, let the player choose. ;)

I suggested this a few days ago. You should be able to assign school building to districts as well. Otherwise cims travel right across the map clogging up the roads.

That sounds like an interesting idea too.

I think the district policy is a good idea - and agree it should only affect the small service buildings. It would give us control and enable us to manage our strategy across the city.

I'm thinking making it an option on the buildings might be better. A tab and it populates with all the districts in your city, and then you can check/uncheck which ones it respondes too. That way you don't have to put the dirty noisy buildings actually IN the districts. And you could have one building cover more than one district (and not force 1 type of each service building per district.

And you could have one building cover more than one district (and not force 1 type of each service building per district.

+1 That would add a lot to the game! Doing that with schools, you could handle the different needs for education level. Or sending the garbage trucks to different locations in the city.

This would probably be the best quality of life change possible!

It's very very simple in concept, but can have far stretching strategy consequences. For one, you would no longer need to overdo cemeteries/crematories since this basically reduces potential travel time of the hearses. One reason you need to overdo deathcare is because the hearses ride insane distances and basically spent their time in the wrong district. The same goes for firemen and police cars.

This way you can use small stations for the districts like in real life, and the big stations as buffer for emergencies.

In short, not only does it provide realism, it solves other problems people have been complaining about.

Yeah restrict School Zones to Districts as well would be good. People only go to school in their district...

++1 Maybe make a policy for 'school of choice' to allow them to use others. Or have the policy Say no to 'school of choice'. Either way.

Good Ideas, I hope they add alot to this game.

This would be a great idea for small scale services. Elementary schools, small fire and police stations, clinics etc. Nothing worse than seeing your clinic despatching ambulances to opposite end of city when there are numerous others closer. This will also allow for more realistic options of deprived areas. I dont want all my cities shiny and educated. Making ghetto/run down areas to contrast the big shiny wealthy houses would add more depth.
