Humanist is way over rated; it is nice but only as maybe the 5th or 6th choice to unlock up to the -2 unrest.
I find it pretty lackluster unless you're one of those nations that can literally ignore converting anything ever if you have it. Even then, not a great thing because +3 heathen tolerance is pretty deep in it but it's still nice if you're going more relaxed.

Ok
Although if you pick it quite early (e.g. Third idea group) you get more benefit out of the -10% idea cost and also the 50% accepted culture bonus is likely to be more useful. If wanting to go Protestant it also makes the reformation more likely in your nation, I think. Anyway, it's great for Poland![]()
Humanism and Religious has pretty good RP value if you wan't to play no conversion game or its opposite.
Poland may do even better with humanism becuase of their culture acceptence + heretic tolerance.
I disagree because you are in the situation where you either have a lot of cultures tolerated with humanism, or you have everything converted with religion. In that sense both are equal, albeit humanism has a little better boost with culture, but not by much. You can also do some fun things with the religion idea; like go reformed.
You can very well go reformed with humanism to, you get 10% conversion strength then you convert to reformed + maybe a CoR which will help.
Religious however allow for a more aggresive playstyle with the cb against other religions while humanism allows for a bit more relaxed game.
Why would you pass up religion if you go reformed? That wouldn't make sense
Depends on what game you want to play, not all times are about conquering everything, sometimes you don't even have a spot for religious/humanism.
In my Norway game that is very trade focused I went reformed without religious or humanism because that is the only Christian religion that really help trade.
