As far as I know they only release hotfixes for things which cause crashes. Fingers crossed it isn't a month until the next bugfix patch though.

I don't think this is true for Paradox on the whole. There don't seem to be any day 0 hotfixes for CK2, but I can find multiple instances of a hotfix on the same day, or a day after, a new patch which don't include a crash fix. For example 1.6.1 and 1.28.1.

Considering how central the marriage game is for Crusader Kings, I think this might well warrant a day 0 hotfix. The only issue is that I think pushing patches is more complicated nowadays due to games no longer having only a single platform (Steam) so it might take some more time and effort to push a hotfix.

I confirmed it as well via Console Commands. The grandson of King Harald IV of Norway, through his daughter Princess Ragnhild, did not receive a claim to the Norwegian throne when I killed both the king and his daughter.

Can anyone give us confirmation with a screenshot this is really how things work now?

We may be getting in a state over nothing. If they really have made this change I agree with the other posters that this deserves a day 0 hotfix, it's probably up there with the worst changes Crusader Kings has ever had in a patch. I can't think of a worse one off the top of my head.

I also feel like the penalty for not accepting a call to arms is pretty steep, I might be inclined to let many of my daughters live unmarried in order to not overextend myself in regards to alliances, or to just keep my sanity intact by avoiding call to arms spam.

Even by Paradox standards this is incompetent.
This may be intentional - is there anything about it in the changelog? Paradox do love their random, arbitrary changes.

I can't see how this is intentional. Using marriages to get claims is one of the core elements Crusader Kings is built around. Removing those claims going forward would destroy every bit of good will CK3 has gotten since release.

It has to be an unintended side effect. CKIII has a great system with pressed/unpressed claims. Doing this on purpose would be like adding the patch note:

- Male Christian rulers above Duke and below Emperor are now correctly forbidden from joining all Holy Wars

Hmmm if this really refers to all titles in the Male Dominated category that would be a huge thing and break the marriage/claim inheritance mechanic.

It only makes sense if this applies to ''Male/Female Only''specific titles for example where only one gender is allowed to inherit in the first place. In muslim realms for example it makes little sense that all your daughters spread your claims around otherwise in a generation or two everyone has a claim on anyone ... especially now that they added the 6 generations deep inheritance of claims mechanic lol. Muslims having 4 wives ... marrying your clansmen for alliances and opinion ... do that 6 generations deep and everyone would literally have a claim on anyone everywhere ... lmao

Yeah, but it's just for male dominated gender law right? So I'd assume that in female dominated gender law men's claims aren't inherited. (Just a guess)

I'm not saying it's a good idea, but if it works how I assume then it's probably intentional.

Yeah that's how it's supposed to work, but from what i'm hearing they've also revoked female inheritance claims from religions that have male dominated as well as male only.

This feels like a mistake. Either:

- it was meant to apply only to male-only succession titles under male-dominated religions; or

- it was an attempted change to implicit claims that has accidentally been applied to claims generally.

If it’s deliberate, it’s a really, really bad change.

I confirmed it with console commands straight after the patch came out. I haven't got a screenshot but you can test for yourself.

This feels like a mistake. Either:

- it was meant to apply only to male-only succession titles under male-dominated religions; or

- it was an attempted change to implicit claims that has accidentally been applied to claims generally.

If it’s deliberate, it’s a really, really bad change.

I reckon it's probably either of those.

The only other thing I could see is that they wanted to make claims given to daughters be unpressed and accidentally removed them entirely. But honestly even that would be a game breaking change, as it would still make it virtually impossible to pass a claim on to a son (or grandson) of your dynasty, since it would require pressing the claim of your wife (or daughter in law).

There was nothing, literally nothing, wrong with the system in 1.03. I have no idea why they've decided to do this.
