My solution has been to run off and play as a Karluk in the Tarim basin where they have male-only succession so I won't be affected in this campaign.

Reminder for everyone waiting for the hotfix that someone has made a mod that solves the issue, posted earlier in the thread:
Steam Community :: Error

This should make the game playable again while Paradox go through the motions of QA testing the fix.
Firstly - a friendly Hello - As I mostly follow the forums as a reader!
Anyway: Also wondering why there is not hotfix yet, I firstly rolled the game back to 1.0.3 - but its somehow unsatisfying - so I stopped the campagin entirely.
A good thing, that a modder 'tried' to take care of that - but unfortunately it is not a real fix - the mod gives implicit claims (due to obvious reasons, as modders are not allowed to change core mechanics, also the author 'Delnar_Ersike' - explained this in the description of his mod) to the heirs.
Let me cite the author:
"To be specific, 1.0.3's non-preferred gender characters would get unpressed claims on the death of their parents. With this mod, those characters get implicit claims that then turn into pressed claims upon the death of their parents. Implicit claims actually do still function as full, pressed claims, but only under specific circumstances, such as with claimant factions."
Which basically gives you another line of extra claimants in your game - as unpressed claims are just gone after death (if no other action taken - like transforming it into a pressed claim using it for a CB).
IMHO the mod unbalances the game.
there was a 2.2 megabyte update just now what was that about?
I don't think there was? Did you download the mod?
There is. Our fix is in.

- Renamed (wo)men_cannot_inherit_claims to (wo)men_cannot_inherit_implicit_claims for clarity

# Bugfixes

- Fixed male/female dominated doctrine blocking all claims for the other sex, rather than just implicit claims. Now based on gender law instead, so female-only blocks male claims, while female-preference doesn't
- Fixed various display issues of the Russian localization
- Fixed tyranny being gained from rightful revocations when you had a claim on the title in question
- Independence Faction wars no longer require the defender to occupy the entire domain of the rebelling vassals to stop ticking warscore
- Reinstated Central Germanic and West Slavic name lists that had accidentally been removed
My guess is we won't see a fix today. But that we won't be waiting more than two or three days.
Meneth said that - aside from crashes - it is "one of the most significant issues we're aware of in 1.1". He also noted how common it would be for players to run into. Didn't feel like a "we'll roll into into a future patch" sort of answer.
