I think the best way to handle this is a big event (i.e. ToT, Reformation, etc.)

I was thinking that England would get the event first, as a seperate event in their event file. That would then trigger this huge event. If for some reason England didn't exist, I will create a second MAJOR event that will hit a few years later.

We need to settle on what it will do. IT has been suggested that it increase Manpower and Tax value, which seem obvious enough....

what else?

Though, Industrializing aside, I'd consider it really grand if provinces could be modified up to their historical potential. Its sad in EUII, that most of the time, gaining provinces, actually hurts you. Say, if Mecklemburg gained Bremen. They'd be better off without it, not taking into account that it gives them a port not covered by the Sound Due, etc...EU provinces are just so worthless, compared to RL, when even a crappy little one like Dobruja could make or break a nation.

I suppose that one might get a sense of the importance of individual provinces if you studied histories of more fragmented regions, such as the HRE or Balkans...

TMHO this event should add:
1.increase of population in the main industrial centers, but not in all provinces
2. some manufactories
3. investment into infra, lets say some 6000 ducats, or even beter this investment should warry from country to country and reflect actual industrialisation of that nation during this period
4. -1000 ducats (no industrial growth without goverments support)

EU provinces are just so worthless, compared to RL, when even a crappy little one like Dobruja could make or break a nation.

well on the other hand in the real life nobody would let you grab half a europe either :D

we can't have a major event that forces anyone to pay anything... and it will not be country specific (except england)...

we could make 4 different events for the 4 different continents (Australia is still British colony)... the trigger could be continent = ? and that way it would simulate the progressive spread.... IE Europe, Northamerica, Asia, Africa, South America... ok.. I'm dumb... thats 5

Might as well make the game as historically accurate as possible and not dumb things down to the assumption that everyone who plays is going to go on a conquering rampage.

If anything, I think it would make it harder for people to conquer all of their neighbours. It is only a hundred year scenario so there won't be that rapid of expansion in any case, and the AI should be able to form larger armies in order to defend itself. Starting everybody off in the historical alliances will help as well.

It is unfortunate that there isn't a revolt event based on having a different culture province in your country.

Industrialisation was a very gradual process, as evidenced by the fact that historians disagree about when the industrial era really began.

I think that the best way to simulate the Industrial Revolution would be events that raised the basic tax value and population in some of the core (national) provinces.

You could also lower population in some provinces to reflect the movement of people to new urban centres.

You could have events in 1840, 1860, 1880 and 1900 with Britian getting the lion's share of it's increase in 1840 and 1860, and Germany and the US in 1880 and 1900.

Each of these events could be accompanied by stability hit's to simulate the upheaval this caused in society.

How about an event tied to the historical beginning of railroad development in those countries, for individual dates?

There should also be a DP shift for industrial nations with this event- +1 Centralization, +2 Innovation, -1 Aristocracy

Industrialization shouldn´t be an event it should be something that the player gains after much effort and the fruit of conscious decisions taken by the player. Something like achieveing a certain level of infraestructure technology. I t shouldn´t be a godsend.
