You can perhaps have a "Tourism"- resource which rich pops want to consume and which is produced in several provinces (may be culture, prestige and diplomatic relationship could influence it).

Now there's an idea! Rich POPs spending on tourism, specific provinces getting income from tourism (probably just very few on the entire map, but anyway), all modeled using the existing goods consumption system.

Air units should be seperate units and not just land attachments. Organize them as squadrons, which is more appropriate of the time. It doesn't have to be that complicated. Just bomber squadrons and fighter squadrons.
Since V2 is being made from the start for the 1836-1935 timeframe there's really no excuse not to pay some more attention to this era and especially it's technology.

Actually, having airplanes be division attachments rather than independent units is entirely appropriate for the era. Air forces of WW1 were subordinate to the national armies and navies, only the British separated them into an independent arm of the military (the Royal Air Force), and only at the end in 1918.

Almost their entire activity consisted of army or naval aviation, doing things that directly supported the armies or fleets, respectively. Strategic bombing or other independent operations were quite rare and even less influential.

Since the realistic impact of air forces operating on their own would be so small, I'd rather not have an additional moving part added to the game.

If it was up to me, an air attachment would simply increase the spotting range of a division (to two or maybe even three divisions deep into enemy territory), as well as give a small bonus to fire, shock and organization.

I don't know why you'd add tourism and civilian shipping while you'd ignore all the other services sectors, from cargo shipping and financial services to plumbing and shopkeeping. I believe the understanding is that services are abstracted to the impact they may have on material resources. So Vicky didn't have telephone companies, but did have a telephones resource that was consumed by POPs. You didn't have coffeehouses, cafés or bars, but POPs would always consume tea, coffee, wine and liquor directly. A more sophisticated financial system was represented by productivity increases at factories etcetera.

Well don't want to dezepplin the thread with OT but as far as some discoveries relating to slightly different timeline... since the US Civil War saw great use of ballons that still doesn't mean a new military unit should be created... just make it part of military techs and give some modifier to defense.
I don't think a new separate unit needs to be created either (although its gonna be hard to bomb London as Germany without it).

What Im mostly asking for is to have them visible in techs, in descriptions, in pictures and so on. Concept art so far looks great btw ^^.
Attachments could be nice too and I think fitting for most smaller scale uses.

Airplanes are faster then helicopters, busses, cars, ships and railroads too. Does that mean they are the only means of transportation around today for distances above 100km?

For intercontinental travel? Pretty much. Unless it's a leisure cruise. I could see a leisure air-cruise in a low-flying zepplin, I guess. But it could never have replaced the airplane, is what I meant.

On topic: I love having more flavour items and techs in the game. Bring em on! :)
Zeppelins and balloons also had a very important military use as recon, even before airplanes were invented. Just because the great war happened after 1904 IRL doesn't mean it can't happen in 1894 in Victoria 2. Can you imagine how important Zeppelins & powered Balloons would have been then?

Flavour? Yes. Even a brigade would be fine. But no seperate units of zepplins bombing things, please.
