Couple points regarding trade leagues (esp. The Hansa):

The 'Bring England back into the fold' mission seems broken. England left the Hanseatic League soon after the beginning of the game. This did not strike me as such a huge loss until I realized that getting England back into the Hanseatic League is one of the Hansa's nation-specific mission (meaning it will fire before all other missions). Once England leaves the league, it is impossible to bring them back in. I gifted them to 200 relations, and the offer of joining the Hanseatic League was a 'Maybe'. So after a few rejections I figure I just have to gift England back to 200 and then ask them to join the League again. I ended up getting rejected by England 20 times (all while relations were above 130)! I am not sure what logic the AI uses when it considers entering into a trade league, but this case seems hopeless. The worst part is that as The Hansa, the high probability of this mission prevents any other interesting missions from spawning.

Once you have gone to war with a nation, it is very difficult to bring them back into your league. E.g., I had to gift Münster to 170 relations to get them to re-join the league, only to have them leave a few years later. Maintaining any sort of COT value becomes incredibly difficult once you get into a multi-nation war. Even if you manage to force each nation into your league through the peace negotiation, once the five-year truce is up, they are 100% sure to leave unless you manage to gift each nation to relations>120 during that five-year truce.

Anyone else having similar problems?

Maybe it changed in the release version, but for my VEN game it was pretty rare for those I forced into my league to leave it later.

ENG is probably not joining due to your relative sizes, bigger nations are less keen to join. You could always get a different misison when canceling though, is that not happening?

Once England leaves the league, it is impossible to bring them back in. I gifted them to 200 relations, and the offer of joining the Hanseatic League was a 'Maybe'.

PI really should publish numbers for these probabilities. Just because you got rejected 20 times in a row doesn't make the odds "impossible". When it really is impossible, the interface will say Impossible. In my latest Eng/GB game I spent four or five years trying to dipannex Scotland before it finally accepted. Sometimes the dice are against you, the world simply is like that.

I agree. Maybe is not 50:50 option it's more like 80:20 against you at least from my experience. Then again the last game I had alliance was accepted in the first Maybe offer so.. just luck.

In my short game as Genoa, I also believe the probabilities are broken or at least only represent the likelihood when the AI doesn't have other plans. Some states with 'Likely' to join refused to join even though I asked 7 times.

Forced nations always leave, even if relations>50. If you do get around to playing a Merchant Republic in the 4.0 release, it would be helpful to know if you have this problem too.

My point is that this is one of three of The Hansa's nation-specific missions, meaning that it has a very high probability of spawning when a mission is cancelled. E.g., in my current game, I completed the 'Swedish Steel' mission and received the 'Enough of the Sound Toll' mission. Every time I cancel that mission I get the England mission, and vice versa (on and on...). Even if I was to complete the Sound Toll mission, I would still get the England mission every other time.
My suggestion would be to somehow fix the requirements for the England mission or lower the probability.

Just go complete the sound toll mission to begin with. Change mission when you get the England mission. The 'mission' is only there to be a small extra part in your game, and you could pretty easily be trying to recreate Germany in the meantime. The Germanic culture block is the strongest in the game imo. Eventually, you'll be able to spank England into doing whatever you want.
