Couple points regarding trade leagues (esp. The Hansa):
The 'Bring England back into the fold' mission seems broken. England left the Hanseatic League soon after the beginning of the game. This did not strike me as such a huge loss until I realized that getting England back into the Hanseatic League is one of the Hansa's nation-specific mission (meaning it will fire before all other missions). Once England leaves the league, it is impossible to bring them back in. I gifted them to 200 relations, and the offer of joining the Hanseatic League was a 'Maybe'. So after a few rejections I figure I just have to gift England back to 200 and then ask them to join the League again. I ended up getting rejected by England 20 times (all while relations were above 130)! I am not sure what logic the AI uses when it considers entering into a trade league, but this case seems hopeless. The worst part is that as The Hansa, the high probability of this mission prevents any other interesting missions from spawning.
Once you have gone to war with a nation, it is very difficult to bring them back into your league. E.g., I had to gift Münster to 170 relations to get them to re-join the league, only to have them leave a few years later. Maintaining any sort of COT value becomes incredibly difficult once you get into a multi-nation war. Even if you manage to force each nation into your league through the peace negotiation, once the five-year truce is up, they are 100% sure to leave unless you manage to gift each nation to relations>120 during that five-year truce.
