Hi peeps, I have some questions regarding the HRE (again :) )

I am playing my second playthrough as Byzantium and I wanted to go to the HRE and either dismantle it or become emperor.
The most viable strategy I read in this forums is to take over Urbino and move the capital there.

Unfortunately for me this couldn't happen in ample time as I was focused with the Ottos and the Balkans, not to say the least that urbino got allied with Castile.

Anyway I have blobbed enough right now in the east and I am thinking of west again. I have vassalised Tuscany because its an elector and I have smoochy relations with other three. The current emperor is Austria and its position is on the brink of collapse. I can initiate a war and pretty much wipe them out. I have France as ally and Austria is pretty much hated by anyone. I also have the northern part of Italy but due to size ofc I cant join.

So I want to ask: If I go to war against Austria is it possible to disband the HRE with one vassalised elector and three as allies (quite possibly joining the war on my side too)?

If I take over and Vassalise Austria what will happen?

Is it possible to force so to speak yourself into the empire or become emperor?

You don't need to be a member to be elected, just a Christian male. So if you can force convert some electors, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting elected.

To dismantle the Empire you need to occupy the Emperor's capital, and ALL of the electors must be either your vassal, in a war with you, or their capital occupied.

Force vassalizing the Emperor makes you Emperor so long as you are eligible to be Emperor, at least it did a couple patches ago. Not sure if it's been changed.
