Just had a wild idea. I was reading a bit about Charles V and I thought - why is HRE emperorship chosen by country and not by dynasty? I envision a system in which electors vote for dynasties instead of countries. And from all the countries that have the said winning dynasty, the one with the highest prestige becomes the Holy Roman Emperor.

I am sure it would spice up a bit the dynastic system and people would pay more attention at their rulers, heirs, royal marriages and prestige.

Thoughts?

I think you should play Lex Tallonis ;), on the other side I wouldnt be surprised if this is fleshed out slightly with the next update, from what wiz has hinted at the next dev diary.

I dont think the electors would use such a random system because the main purpose of the emperor is to protect its members.

Austrian Mr H might be a miserable bastard with no prestige but he has 50k troops.

Badens Mr H on the other hand has his cities lined with theaters and paintings but he has 500 troops and is preaty useless.

What i would like is a change where the emperor has to have a certain number of regiments before being elected, ive seen situations where some tiny HRE nation becomes emperor on account of being a huge suckup and end up dooming all its members when polandball or denkrieg comes knocking.

That is a fair point.
Adding a modifier based on military score would drastically improve HRE survive rate as it would prevent such minors of failed Austria to hold the crown and doom everyone.

Just an idea to implement this:

-The eletors vote on a dynasty.

-Everyone that has that dynasty will become emperor!

-A Country can claim the emperorship for themself, BUT they will get a new dynasty (Like a new Branch.) and a war with the other countries with your dynasty, if they dont accept it.

-The more countries that is the emperor, the less powerfull the bonuses will be.

-If a country outside the HRE, wants to be the emperor they gotta get elected like normal (They dont vote on a dynasty.) If a country outside the HRE shares dynasti, with the emperor they can claim it and delcare war for it.

Will this be a good idea i do not know :p

That would be a disaster,so austria takes salzburg but habsburg hessen declares it unlawfull, meanwhile the saxony habsburg is pressuring the hessen habsburg to become catholic again all the while habsburg baden is preparing to backstab all 3.

Well there should be some rework about the HRE mechanics, maybe that they cant declare war on eachother unless they claim the imperial throne, that cb should only last for a month or so. And they should not eb abel to do the emperorr mechanics on each other.

I agree providing the country who is emperor stays emperor if the dynasty who gets it is the dynasty of the previous emperor, as long as the ruler of that country is still of that dynasty and the prestige is above zero.
