There has been complaints about the Shadow Kingdom event, which removes all the the Italian nations from the HRE. At the moment this seems to only be possible if the player either is Austria or another nation in or near the region and conquers the are by himself or helps the AI Austria a lot.
I understand and agree that preventing the secession shouldn't happen in every game (Just like say... Burgundian Inheritance), but it should be possible to be done by the AI without direct player intervention. Just like any other event in the game (and yes I know a few other events that just don't happen in the game unless the player is in control of the nation affiliated with the event, they too might need a little bit a adjustment).
So what change could be made that facilitate? Here's a few suggestions. I'd like to hear peoples opinions on them and the hear other suggestions as well.
1. Extend the time frame. The Italian Wars ended in 1559 after which it was clear that the area didn't really belong to the HRE sphere of influence, but to the Habsburg Spain's sphere of influence (I know that this isn't Vicky, but SOI is an actually political term.
2.a Add a mission or an event (chain) which would give a Casus Belli to force the Pope admit the Roman Emperor as the rightful ruler of the Kingdom of Italy. Which would add the Papal States and it's lands belonging to the Kingdom of Italy into the HRE. With the idea "Your lands belong the to Kingdom of Italy and I am the rightful ruler of the Kingdom of Italy so you should bow to me."
2.b With the Venetian Dodge there could be a similar treatment with a mission or an event (chain) CB, but since Venezia never belonged to the HRE it probably needs a different treatment. Maybe add Verona as a releasable nation from Venice and make the justified demands (AI understand these, right?) of the CB as releasing nations or returning cores? (They were conquered by the Venetians in 1405. So it's well within the time frame.)
So what do you think could improve the Shadow Kingdom chain?
In-addition: I few events that will never happen at the moment with out a lot of shenanigans by the player.
Shipbuilding technology for the Hansa, because when have you seen the Netherlands before 1500?
The incorporation of Prussia into Brandenburg, let's be honest because of the Centres of Reformation we won't see Teutonic Order (nor the Livonian Order) flip to Protestant or Reformed. Both of those two require a reformation religion to reform into a kingdom.
