I play both. Depends on my mood.
Ironman is more satisfying but sometimes I can't be bothered with the risk of lucky nations, potential 14 year regencies, really bad events etc.

I wish they implemented a lite; -no achievements- Ironman for me to play properly, with checksum effecting mods.

Only then can you look at your empires, achievements and victories with pride, otherwise you know you cheated.
If I can't be arsed to think thru the ramifications of a decision and it blows up in my face, then I deserve to lose, or waste 30 years rectifying mistakes. Isn't part of the fun being in jepoardy and digging yourself out of it? Is it fun to coast to victory all the time?
Where's the fun in going back to earlier saves, and avoiding all the errors? You're just cheating yourself.

Ironman. Albeit with many graphical mods to make things that much more visually appealing.
ironman only. The graphical mod that combined land colours with terrain is awesome, and it worked in ironman.
Btw, can i adapt a mod file myself to make it compatible with 1.8? I'd love that mod working again.

I play ironman in the sense that I don't reload, but I don't turn on the actual ironman mode because the game is always a little bit faster with it off.
Is there another mode than SP? xD
To OP: Ironman only,and yes it's important achievements or not.
I don't. I can stop myself from cheating without it and don't care about Achievements, so I don't see the necessity to "suffer" (very hard word, it's not really bad, but I don't like it) the constant autosaves and the possibility of corrupt savegames (very rare I know, but still, it's there) or unfixable Bugs (which could without Ironman be fixed bei either savegamedit or just using an older Save)
Ironman only if I'm doing an achievement run - I like to play from the 1492 bookmark, and since I can't get achievements from that start date I really don't care.
I would prefer to play Ironman only, though I fundamentally disagree with the Lucky Nations element that is thrown in there. After playings hundreds of hours on Ironman, I've gone back to playing the standard game (with Lucky disabled). The difference is amazing. The big nations don't (usually) start colonizing 50-80 years before they did in reality, and don't (usually) overblob in their respective territories. Instead, they do about as well as they did in reality - which makes the game a bit more enjoyable from a historical perspective.

Dont care much for achievements, just play for fun. Ironman feels better and provide basis for sensible discussion.

Because, 1) I won't have to worry about saving 2) achievements.
I don't actively pursue achievements but when I get that rare event that would give me an achievement I sure as heck will want it.

Often only Ironman because I don't have the discipline to stop myself from reloading a prior save if I screw up.
Though non-ironman is tempting to be able to reload after checking out how a mechanic works, or if the screw-up was me forgetting to do something I meant to do (like dropping an army off by boat next to a rebel stack, then forgetting to attack them and having the rebels win the siege.
Non-ironman is also tempting in that:
- Saves don't happen all the time.
- Saves are much faster to my local SSD than they are to the cloud.
In the end though, as I said, I don't have the discipline to stop from reloading when things start to go south. Recovering (or not) from those situations is quite fun though.

Ironman whenever I play a "serious" campaign. Not when playing around with stuff and switching between tags.
