As I see, the naval bombers in HOI IV are more or less single engined planes. The are land based and there's a carrier version available.
So in real life, these sort of naval bombers are 99% only carrier based (Are there any landbased single engine Torpedo bombers anyway?)
So how will the very effective twin engine Torpedo bombers represented?
F.e Ju-88, Ju-188, S.M.79 Sparviero, G3M Rikko, G4M Hamaki, Beaufighter, Brigand........

At the moment, they're all at tactical bomber or heavy fighter.
Is in the variant system the possibility to choose "torpedo capability" or something similar to make those medium bombers to real good naval bombers?

From memory, on WWW we saw the brit tech tree, and I think (noting my memory is shocking) the Beaufighter was in the heavy fighter tree. If we could have some kind of torpedo attack that we could tack onto that, that'd be brilliant, although who knows whether it'd be possible or not. Deffo a good question :).

Hopefully its not only with modding. Giving the possibility to do this with the variant system would be cool. Or maybe with a later tech to give medium bombers the ability to raise naval bombing stats.

It seems like that in HOI4 the missions each aircraft type will be able to undertake will be like 2 so you will need all differen't type of aircrafts to be able to perform all differen't missions.

This does seem the case as I have asked about fighters being able to conduct ground attack missions. I think any aircraft should be able to conduct any mission but with massive penalties like HOI3. Let the player decide how their air force performs.

I think we might need modding for a broader range of aircraft (not unlike we'll need modding to get a broader range of ships). I think different models (like SP Art and TDs for tanks) for heavy fighters might work well for something like this (idea is Le_Caribinier's from the Coastal Defence Ship thread, but I like the way he's looking at it).

I'd like the Twin engined bombers to be able to do this task. Germany used twin engined bombers as did Japan and the USA did have twins that carried torpedo if my memory servers me. This would also cover Navel Strike (bombs and rockets)

GB being GB had two aircraft types, Beaufort specially designed torpedo twin and then went to the heavy fighters starting with the Beaufighter and then very much later the Mosquito and the Brigand. However the HP Hampton twin bomber was used in this role.

So it Looks like I will mod something in. Best would be throught the variant System, where you can implement a 5th value (torpedo- or naval attack) which lowers ground-/soft attack, but raises torpedo-/naval attack.
Then you can create a specific twin-engined naval bomber variant of the tactical Bombers.

So it Looks like I will mod something in. Best would be throught the variant System, where you can implement a 5th value (torpedo- or naval attack) which lowers ground-/soft attack, but raises torpedo-/naval attack.
Why? Torpedo clamps/holds can store bombs too.

I doubt, that this is somehow implemented. It Looks like you only have the (single-engined) torpedo bomber as naval bomber. Maybe there're some Torpedo attack or naval attack values for tactical Bombers (or medium Bombers), but they will be way lower than the Torpedo Bombers.
Actually the values show in The WWW are the other way around. Single engine plane (Naval and fighter) have naval attack: 1.0, while the medium bomber (and the strat. bomber) have 1.5 (i think both were level 2, but I can be wrong here).
The difference will be the stat naval targeting. Single engine: 1.0 / medium and strat. bomber: 0.6.
So I would guess the single engine has a better chance to hit and the naval bomber has naval attack as a upgrade "slot".

Get into it, that's a mod I'd be very interested in :). With torpedo attack being a separate value, it might be possible to just add that on as something that can be 'varianted' (not a real verb :)). Not sure if there's a need to lower ground/soft attack as well, as others have mentioned - I'm fairly sure Beaufighters could be used for both torpedo attack and CAS once they'd been appropriately modified (but it's your mod, so you should do what you think's appropriate :)).

Well, if torpedo attack is already implemented as stat in the medium bombers, they're a really good multipurpose plane. It's simplified, but ok.
Then I assume if you raise the "weapons" in the variant screen, both naval attack and tactical bombing stats will raise.

But I prefer to seperate naval attack and land attack ability.
