Hello everyone, does anybody know how can I vassalize a great power? Reason being that upon conversion from EU4 five of my PUs are suddenly independent allies and great powers. I tried setting vassal relation in save, but it doesn't work. Neither does console annexing all their provinces and releasing as puppet, they're still a great power and become stealthily independent. Any ideas ? Thanks!

I think that GPs and Puppets are mutually exclusive in Vicky 2, but in the "GPs can not be Puppets" way instead of the "Puppets can not be GPs" way.
I would suggest two things:
1) Try substating them instead of satteliting them, and see if that works. If it doesn't:
2) Remove enough of their prestige for them to lose enough positions.
I believe you can also edit in who are GPs and who aren't GPs in the save file, so I would very much recommend that - because GPs take 1 year to demote.

Unfortunately, great powers are defined for some reason as numbers, and I can't see a way to match them to tags:
great_nations=
{
556 391 514 890 939 721 328 927 }

I managed to console eat France/GB/etc, let some time pass for the GP list to update, then release them. However, I noticed one of the new GPs was my old puppet Scotland. I think puppets can magically escape their status and become a GP, and I can't see a way to have them stuck in puppet state (as would be appropriate). Damn nonsense ruining my megacampaign :(

Are they capital province ids perhaps?

Yes when a country becomes a GP it is automatically no longer your puppet any more. You could check the static modifiers and reduce prestige for being a puppet even further, which might prevent them from getting GP status.
