Rogues are very weak early game, but can double as scouts. They need to be upgraded to be very effective, since they can stunlock opponents (very nice against ogres, bears and vamps). While you can beat the 75 day scenario w/o Rogues, the stun really helps.

What are rogues for in any RPG ?
- Melee DPS
- Crowd control
- Leadership ?

Well, the leadership is new, since rogues are apparently great leaders in Majesty 2 :p have them lead a party and you will have the entire party of self righteous Heroes do everything for 30 cents and change.

Ahhh...so greed is good!

They run around behind larger foes and stab them in the back.

Do they actually do that? They always attack head on for me.

Actually though, Elves make better party leaders, because they're almost as greed driven as Rogues, but also have a run speed buff that they apply to the party so everyone gets to the target faster :D

I've found that, in the demo at least, you can skip building rangers and use rogues instead. You have to use more exploration flags, and spend a little more on those flags, but that doesn't matter too much. If you don't specifically need bow dps the money saved at the blacksmith, ranger guild, elven bungalow, etc. is significant when compared to building more rogue, wizard, and priest buildings. The only thing lost is the elven speed boost, but the heroes really like buying the speed buff pot from the bazaar.

Also, using cheap flags hurts you in the long run. When you use bigger flags your heroes get more money to spend in your shops, which gives you heroes with better equipment AND you get your money back, as long as your heroes, shops, and tax collectors aren't dying. Which happens less when your heroes have more money to spend in your shops. Also, you don't have to put rogues in group lead to get lots of heroes attacking whatever you want them to.
