How to trigger 4th Crusade?

I know there is starting event for it (HF.49000), but nothing happened after I fired it. Is there a way to manually trigger it or do I just have to pray to RNGesus?

I don't think you can manually change the Crusade Target to Byzantium yourself. At least I never could.

And what are conditions for that? I know the Doge gets some pop ups, but I need to find a way to get the events to fire.

No idea, didn't play republic since at least Holy Fury release, so never really looked into the specific.

But from the event listed on the wiki, seem like there need to be a Byzantine prince or princess (probably brother or sister of the current emperor or children of the old emperor if dynasty changed) available for the whole chain of event to even start.

I recently played this- I was Republic of Normandy and had the chain happen; first a Princess of Byzantine shows up in your court, then you get the option with the pope of a new recipient, then you get to crush those purple guys and form the Latin Empire.
