How to tell if a province of the emperor is in the HRE?

In my current game, if I look at imperial map mode, every single province belonging to the emperor is shown in bright green. I don't know whether this means "these are the provinces that belong to the emperor" or if it's just coincidence that it's all of them, and instead meaning "these are the HRE provinces that belong to the emperor" - those happening to be all of his provinces.

Does anyone know which it means? And if it means "these are the provinces that belong to the emperor", is there a way to tell whether or not a specific province belonging to the emperor is an HRE province?

It's the provinces that belong to the Emperor, it's rather annoying actually when you want to add your provinces to the HRE after becoming emperor with a country on the outside -.-

I just discovered a workaround (a little cumbersome in some situations, but it works): If you go into imperial mapmode and hover over a province, part of the tooltip for a province that belongs to the empire will say that it belongs to the empire. There's no corresponding explicit "does not belong to the empire" for provinces that don't.

True, also you can use the ledger to find provinces that aren't in the empire that border the empire.
