How to start a multiplayer game?

Hi Guys,

I apologize if this question has been asked before, but I'm new to this.

I want to play Imperator in multiplayer with a friend. We both have the steam-version of the game, no DLCs. We both log into our Paradoc-accounts. One of us hosts a game, opens it for public and sets a password, then sends the other person the ID. The other guy uses the ID to (supposedly) join the hosted game.
But nothing happens, we don't get a connection.

So, what are we doing wrong? Am I missing something? What's the best practice to get a multiplayer game going? I appreciate tips, we just want to have a good time uniting Greece.

check for any extra spaces in the ID when copying the ID

I will tonight, thank you. Since no one else answered, maybe we are the only ones with that problem. Kind of worrysome, but on the other hand it gives me hope.

i play MP weekly and havent had any issues. make sure you don't have any MODs on either that could cause a version mismatch. even without the server ID, you should see your friend's game in imperator's server browser (clicking on the multiplayer menu). so if you can't see the game from the list you may have other issues.
