Hi all,

after some time I was again able to play a bit.
Despite the fact that I bought the game on day 1, I have as of yet
just played peacefully building up an "empire" thus mostly ignoring
diplo, wars and such.

However, some questions did arise.
I still do not completly understand Rally Points.
You have to click a symbol to make a planet or a fleet a rally
point. Ok.

BUT !!!
How am I able to specifically select a rally point ?

Example of a situation.
I have 2 fleets.
One is undergoing repairs and I would like to be able to strenghten it
with newly build ships from say the repair location and maybe 2-3 other.

I have a second fleet (also set up as a rp) somewhere in the Galaxy also badly in need
of reinforcements as it has cleared a path/produced debris for the science ships and taken
casualities. I want to dedicate some other planets to this.

Only way I see it, is to manually set only ONE fleet as a rally point, wait until it
has received all reinforcements. Then set the other fleet as a RP and so on.

But this way it does not allow me to strenghten several fleets simultanously.

Same goes in a diffent way for planets as RP.
I have to set them as RP to allow e,g, my science ships to get to the nearest
station for upgrades, however it does not allow me to set the RP selectivly as
a staging place for e.g "attack fleets".

In a way this seems to defeat the purpose of rally points.
Most probably I am to stupid to grasp the concept and handling of RP.
Some help or explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Strategice resources.
I am playing in a 400 galaxy.
After some time a lot of systems are explored and settled.
I have researched some SR.

However, there is no way to see where a strat.resource pops up !
There seems to be no overlay for Strategic Resources.
And it is very difficult/timeconsuming to look up system by system
to locate them as only 2-3 are generated in the whole galaxy.
Is there a better way ?

Sector.
I just noticed that in a sector a sector capital is designated but don't know
how.
Example: I set a sector with a 3-planet system. One fully developed, one
nearly full and one (small) newly settled.
The newly settled is designated sector capital.
It seems that the sec.cap. is just fluff, but should not the 1st planet be designated
sector capital ? (And be it only for flavour. But it seems that it cannot be
re-designated)

Wars and Diplomacy
I have not yet had wars and am still very uncertain how they are conducted.
I skimmed the wiki but what I would like is some guide with a step by step
introduction. Is there something of this sort ?

The diplomacy is also very unclear.
To many questions to ask in general but one comes to mind.

I was offerd a strategic resource by an AI empire which asked for onother
one (offered dust and asked for teldar crystal). OK.

But in the diplo menu I have on my side strat. resoures and also systems,
but the other sides does not offer these.

So I cannot ask for a system which is important for me and may have to
start a war to get ist.

I am also unable to ask for a strat.resource which the other empire has in
plenty. I can just offer one and ask only for minerals/energy.

Some help or explanation very welcome.

Thanks for any reply or help.

Ships will allegedly be sent to the closest rally points. Allegedly as I don't believe they're actually working that way. In my experience, all ships will go to the oldest rally point, necessitating that you enable and disable them as needed.

Unfortunately there isn't a better way to find the resources either. It's a matter of trying to locate them on a system by system basis (there is a console command that'll tell you what resources exist in the galaxy however, just not where). An overlay would be extremely helpful.

The sector capitol is the first planet added into the sector. You can change it by removing that system, which will cause the capitol to default to something else. You may have to remove several systems to get the capitol you want, as the allocation seems to be more or less random.

Wars are fairly simple when you're looking at the actual mechanics. If you initiate a war, you pick the goals you want to achieve at the beginning. This can range from annexing planets/vassalising empires to imposing bans on certain activities, like slavery or AI research. Each goal is worth a point value. While fighting you gain points for killing ships and blockading/occupying planets. Your enemy gains points for the same thing.

The game tracks who is winning by your warscore, which is in the bottom right corner. This varies between 100 (victory) and -100 (loss). If your current warscore exceeds the value of your goals your enemy may surrender or attempt to negotiate peace. Once the war is concluded, there is a 10 year truce the game imposes that prevents further hostilities.

For diplomacy, you can currently offer the AI systems but you can't buy them from the AI. This is to stop wealthy players from conning the AI into giving away more systems than they should, as the computer will never be able to factor in a system's full, actual value for a trade (potential future income, strategic location, how the transfer would affect the balance of power, etc). This does unfortunately mean that there's no way to exchange unfortunately located systems with an ally though.

Thanks for the reply.

Ok. Not so ideal, but maybe it will be refined in a future update.

Sad. I hoped to be wrong. Again, maybe we will (hopefully) get more layers in a future update.
A layer ONLY showing strat. resources is badly needed I think.

Ok. Thats logical. However, it was a sector of only one system but with 3 settled planets.
The just colonized (2 Pop) planet was designated sector capital.
If the designation is only fluff, than it is ok, if regretable. However, if the sector capital
has some relevance for something this is another matter.

Thanks for the info. I will have to read the wiki and then try out my first war :)
BTW. I read somewhere a long time ago that it is possible to analyze the debris of
a space battle. (but would net ONLY weapons and ship systems).
If I conquer a planet, will I be able to capture other tech (industry, policies etc.)
like I was able in Master of Orion ? That would be nice.

Understandable. Have not thought about that. (Planets)
But to ask for a specific strat. resource or anything else (tech?) would have been nice.
