why would you? you might need them later - it's not like you have limited amount of space or anything. if at any point you run short on modern aircraft, you can pull from these to reinforce your air wings. they're not optimal, but it's better than not being able to send planes into the air.

Because its really immersion breaking, no one is going to issue WW1 vintage planes during 1943 even if things are not going well. Its just a waste of trained pilots.

You're not forced to issue them, are you? They lie in storage waiting in case you literally have no better options. The realistic alternative would be melting them for scrap metal or something, but I don't see a point in simply discarding them for the sake of not having them around.

Total agree, why provide easy targets for your enemy to gain experience points off you and drain your manpower. You should be able to scrap them and recover some of the metal and rubber that went into production.

Just thinking, MP divisions for partisan suppression would be a good outlet for some equipment.

noone is going to use them if everything goes well. they're there for if you've got literally nothing else and need anythign resembling a figther yesterday. if you really don't want them around, lend-lease them to some minor ally that has no airforce to speak of.

If I run out of newer models them automatically the older stuff is used as replacement as far as I know. I really don't want this to happen for reasons of immersion. Lend leasing really old crap away is equally far fetched IMO.

Considering that biplanes were used all the way until the end of ww2, not really immersion breaking that.

Not in daylight interception missions.

EDIT: Although I guess things like reconnaissance and communication aircraft are abstracted in the game so a few older models are totally acceptable. But I have no problem using older aircraft if necessary, what I find absurd is using really old stuff, there is a difference between old and obsolete.

Can we Upgrade these older planes to newer models? Didnt find the button for that :D

You can tell your armies to upgrade and use newer technology that you have built (and the old tech goes into your reserve) but you can't litterally turn old tech into newer tech.

This is correct as no amount of engineering is going to convert a bi-plane into a spitfire anymore than you can turn a f-14 into a f-22.

Huh. I thought you could decommission them. Wouldn't know, really, I'm still quite unfamiliar with the interface.

Canada was still building some, but only as training planes for the thousand of Allied pilots they did train.

Sadly, as there is no training for planes (and ships), no way to deplete them that way.

PS Canada also built thousands of modern fighters and bombers, to use on the front lines.

As many others have mentioned; give them to the needy. Even your old pre-war planes can be useful in parts of the world where nobody has the resources to build planes on their own.
