Hey guys,

So I've recently been having difficulty trying to start a successful custom character in mainland who has different culture and religion. Specifically, Zoroastrianism and Greek culture. If you're curious why I chose those two specifically, it's pretty much due to the fact that I like the way the Greek culture functions, and I enjoy being a Zoroastrian since I can give my character good traits and likely pass off those good traits to my children who can pass them on to their children as well.

However, pulling this off is obviously quite difficult for a number of reasons. By being starting off as a separate culture and religion, most of my vassals will clearly hate me from the start. Furthermore, my neighbors have a tendency to holy war me unless I play as a strong nation, in which case my vassals rise up against me instead. I've been however by a friend that if I want to have this strictly Greek + Zoroastrian empire, I can simply recruit people to my court nonstop who are of my culture and religion and boot out all of the vassals who are of different backgrounds. By doing this, he told me I should be able to gain my desired culture and religion through the process of revoking titles and appointing courtiers if I play my cards right. The only problem is, I don't really know how to do this, and I don't want to toy around with this and waste time if there is a better method to do this.

Altogether, given my circumstances, can someone please tell me what processes, methods, or functions I should utilize in order to accomplish my goal?

Thanks!

You need to have the law system whereby you *can* revoke titles in place, which is done through the law screen. At that point you are capable of revoking titles, depending on the size of the realm this may be more or less easy since people will not like you taking their stuff. When you have gained the lands from your now ex-vassals, you are free to hand them out to your new crop of people, however do not do that until you are done revoking. Don't even generate the courtiers until you are done revoking. People don't like tyranny and so the new people will have a majorly negative opinion of you, even if they are your culture/religion, if they exist in your court during your reign of tyranny.

If you have medium crown authority (without Conclave DLC) or religious title revocation law (with Conclave DLC) you can revoke titles from vassals that have a different religion than you without tyranny.

You can make new vassals by generating courtiers with decisions in the intrigue tab (invite noble, promote commander), but that costs gold. You can also generate new vassals in baronies, temples, and cities by right-clicking the image of the holding and clicking on the button with the crown symbol. That automatically generates a new courtier of your religion and culture and hands them the holding.

You forgot ''Invite Holy Man'' which always costs 5 piety. That's what I usually use, because piety is normally useless.
