It's quite possible to take most of Europe before the Holy War CB runs out, at which point you're pretty much unstoppable.

Am I the only one who found Ottomans really easy? in my current Ottomans game at ~1480, with NO reloading, my empire spans from ersukjavar to azerbaijan, I have all of egypt (to cyrenaica) and all of Arabia (Yemen, Jalayirids, Oman and Hedjaz, najd and al haasa don't exist) under PUs, so when my current king dies I will inherit, with cores, all of that + East Africa. Tripoli is my vassal, as is a shrunken Adal, Portugal and Spain I have beaten to a bloody pulp and I always beat the Austrians (HRE) When they declare war on me every five years. I always attacked, never once used scorched earth, and my fleet is second to none but England's. I control all of the aquilean lands, all of Greece and all of Venice's starting territories, including the COT. I have colonized Astrakhan.

For people who might say I was given no challenges, I had to fight to gain all of those PUs, fight off the timurids (now my eastern border dominated by a lsrge and sunni ally called Persia) and around 1430 I was at war with France, Austria, Bohemia, Burgundy and Castille all at once, and won. playing on normal with regular settings. I'll post pics later if I can find an imagehost I like.

I think I understated my abilities in this game. I played those Ottoman Empire and Castille games on very easy yes, but I learned pretty much everything. I was asking for tactics to exploit the AI or just small clever tips. I will try again and post what happens here. But I gotta say that this game is addicting but drives you crazy with Comets, or AI ganging up on you for no reason. Like I said I will try again.

You were playing on Normal. Try it in very hard, I'm sure you'll get some real challanges.

Well, in that case, I have found that the terrain modifiers decided most battles. If you can advance quickly into Hungary, there is a chance he will try to attack you in the hills. As soon as his armies meet yours in battle, reinforce many surrounding troops to that area. Remember, the A.I. May have more troops than you, but if you can destroy them in small groups. Also, when dealing with Castile, try sending troops across a straight somewhere in your lands. It will draw the enemy navy away, giving your ships a chance to maneuver. If you should happen to find a small castillian fleet, and you defeat it, immediately send an army over the straight. The A.I. Will redirect the fleet even if it has no morale, and you can destroy/capture the whole thing. If castille is dumb enough to send out it's navies piecemeal, you can get a sizable fleet early in the game. And, lastly, my castille seemed obsessed with taking Crete for some reason. I left one army on Crete and it defeated all incoming castillian armies. These are all tactics that should probably work on very hard. Also, do ANYTHING to avoid losing stability. It is so difficult to get back as the ottomans.
