You are threatend by both, that gives you +20 to ally with their rivals. They are also quite unstable so they might collapse. But yes, that's... tricky.

I allied Dulkadir, Samtshke and Ajam, DOWed AQ when I hit 4 mil tech (was pretty tough, they were allied with Karaman, Candar and Anizah, but didn't coordinate well enough), took 3 provinces to myself and the rest to my allies (not always something I would advice, but I figured it's valuable to be able to call in allies in the next 30 years since all my targets are pretty big), then attacked QQ when they were having trouble with Sunni rebels. At this point you can ditch Samtshke and Dulkadir and eat them, and start looking for opportunities to go after Mamluks and/or Anatolia while eating any minors left in the Iraq/Persia area.

Also, Ottomans did the typical "-100% Albania"-opener which allowed me to ally them (I took the lenient taxation perk for dip rep). Not that I've had much use for them since they are still in debt, but at least they should keep me from getting DOWed.

I restarted until AQ has domineering attitude toward me so that I can become a vassla. After 30-40 years, I could get support independence from Ottoman and became independent with some provinces from AQ and alliance with Ottoman. After that, I could do whatever I want except rivaling Crimea, which would become alliance with Ottoman and make Ottoman break alliance with me, and taking Syria or Egypt as Ottoman wants them all.

Ally minors like dulkadir and trebizond . Once coptic rebels spawn and ruin their amy ,kill Aq qoyonlu asap, pray that ottoman dont attack one of your allies before you do that. Then Qara qoyonlu will attack his neighbor, once mamluk attack them too join in and pick a few more lands. Next ally ottomans , wreck everyone just by standing behind your big buddy.

Thx for your advices, but oh Boy was i lucky with my start.
I was scared so i decided i will go with the get AQs Vassal aproach. AQ Allied Ottos so i was not very happy with the overall situation. And then the Ottos declared war on Candar which was allied to AQ and QQ declared on Ajam (would be occupied there for some time). I waited a couple of months and declared on AQ myself and ende with this in 1450, a Royal Marrige with the Ottos and improving with the Mamluks.
Lucky me.jpg

But it was a bit of a Investment on the Money side because i had to go way over my force limit to even be able to siege down Aq capital wich also took some while.
So now im going to consolitate and go on.

On Normal, this isn't a particularly hard start; you just have to restart until AQ fails to ally either the Ottomans or Mughals, which is fairly common. You can almost always ally Dulkadir and Shamstke (apologies for spelling) and call them in on an initial war vs. AQ for a decent advantage in men and to make things even easier AQ will often obligingly go and siege a fort so you can get a defensive bonus in the crucial first combat. Ask QQ for MA so you can retreat up north.

The second phase is a little more difficult as you don't have any great allies to assist at taking on QQ but at least then you're not an OPM.
