Every time I try to do this it fails completely and the flags simply become black backgrounds. How can I fi this?
while i would like to see your mod i dont exactly see how it would help me with my flags any more than the actual game wouldSaved in wrong format? I have an example mod if you want.

Check the fascist Canadian flag, confirmed working. Just reverse engineering it. That is how I learned modding anyway. It has exactly 1 file, you can't go wrong.
I have no idea why it did that, I was never even on that page. I used paint.net though.for one, this links to a call of duty screen shot, and two, i saved the flags as a tga file and i used GIMP to copy paste the flags i wanted as ive heard paint.net doesnt work
I used paint.net when I made a mod and it didn't cause problems. It wasn't flags though, it was pictures for events. I tested, and saving the pictures as either DDS A8R8G8B8 or A8B8G8R8 worked fine....i used GIMP to copy paste the flags i wanted as ive heard paint.net doesnt work

Droped a few number, sorry.
Sorry. Just checked the gfx/flags folder and the flags are all TGAs. Since the ones that come with HoI4 are all 17KB, I think the settings you should use when saving them in paint.net is 32-bit, no compression, because that'll get you the same file size.wait so i should save my flags as a dds file?
