Paradox should add "switch" for rulers to prevent them from leading armies. Council members already have them, so why not king?

This is a good idea.

This could even make a nice event line; your liege summons you for military service, do lead your troops, send your troops with the Marshal, send them with a random courtier or even refuse to send them. All options have impacts to your relationships with your liege and vassals... If you agree to go you (or whoever you send) can not be recalled for a certain period of time (say a month)...
Excellent idea.

A vassal has several obligations to his liege, one of which was to lead his levies if he requested it.

Vassals have two obligations : Paying taxes and Supplying levies... in exchange of liege's protection

The vassal doesn't have to personaly lead his levies... he is rather free to assign who ever he wants to lead his men!

Vassals can have their own agenda... as long as it doesn't break the feudal contract!

In the game, what needs to be adressed is the AI assigning unfitting characters to lead random armies (not their own levies) even when they're blind, their martial skill equal to 0, and even infirm!!! especially when there are plenty of other vassals with better skills.

In my game, AI was insisting to have my blind - 0 marital skill character in liege's armies!!! whenever I make him stay, AI send him somewhere unbelievable! Today, I had the same experience whith a character with the infirm trait!!! How useful can such a leader be in the battlefield!!!

While play-testing my mod, my kingdom declared a holy war and my king was in charge of the levy in the capital. I immediately clicked the levy in question, and pressed the resign button.

Mike Louis (scheming): "Good, the High King is back where he belongs, in the palace keeping an eye on the nobles. There's no need getting him killed 'inspecting the front line'. That's what that +12 martial Portuguese High Queen of his is for. It her job to run the army, and to 'take that damned hill'. Can't have him getting killed 'visiting the troops' now, no sir. An excellent scheming politician is so hard to find in these times."
