Hi,

Does anyone have any tips on how to make an AI empire more likely to accept a release request (if you're the subject)? I've been vassalized by an empire (by request) to help me recover and am just using them for protection and tech right now. However my plan is to try and leave soon , so I want an idea on what sort of queues to give.

Thanks,
Saluki.

Never been in that situation myself, but I strongly suspect they will never voluntarly release you. You will most likely have to fight for your independence.

Ok. I'll just try to be nice to them and see what that does when I want releasing. Unless someone gives me a way to persuade them to release me. But just in case any of that doesn't work I'll start building my fleets up. Thanks man :p

Remember to keep eye out for notification about AI starting to integrate you. It is not very noticeable so it is very easy to miss. If it is finished you will lose.

The AI will under no circumstances release your vassalage voluntarily. War is the only option.

If you outclass them by stupid levels militarily and have equally strong people supporting your independence that might work, but I've never been in that situation. I've only had it where I outclass my neighbors to such a ludicrous degree that they ask to become my subject.
Ironically, this was most prevalent in my inward perfection campaign, which was my last 2.1 game, and most hilarious/meme game to date. I started as IP life seeded, planning to rush Habs and RW's, but got the worm for the first time in my first half hour in. By midgame, I had begun to so severely outclass some of my neighbors, that even though I wasn't allowed to vassalize them, because I'm allowed to have tributaries as subjects instead, they asked to give me tribute instead. I RP'd it as "They give me stuff, but don't interact with me in any other way, and all I have to do is use the giant fleets I have for self defense to defend them too."
In that same game, I also found out IP could actually have vassals, as I led the LoNAP against the AE's in the WIH, and after beating the precursors, the game made their subjects my vassals, and despite just wanting to be left the hell alone with my wormed pops and synths, I was left as the sole galactic superpower.

Thank you for all the responses! I think the best cause of action is to build up my fleets, start stockpiling resources and become friendly with other empires to try and get my independence supported.

Note that you do not need to win the war to become independent - just not lose it. So, fortify you borders, and aim to hold out till the WE reaches 100.
