Hi,

I want to know if there is a way to go back and use an older version of the game client.

We play weekly for a few hours a multiplayer game with a few friends. The sentiment is that when the game gets an update the save of the week before tends to start doing things strangely. I am only talking about an upgrade of one version level so not somthing that has been a save of many versions before.

We noticed :
  1. a historic events that we never happened before (and only happened when we continued a save of an older version when the client updated to a newer version)
    Examples
    • Vichy France starts but that only creates that country and the rest of France and its army just become Free French
    • Germany was invading Greece, tried to get Bulgary (AI) into the faction (the option was there, it showed like it would never be acceptes because -1000019 was the negative value),
    • Germany clicks on the call to arms nothing happens in the war overview list, Germany clicks on the call to war in the diplo screen of the ally, nothing happens. An other ally of germany does the same and that call to arms works
  2. some regions of the map become uncontrolled
  3. Switzerland starts a war with Italy (on historical mode)
  4. production of something in the queue 'stopped' for example no more tanks (this was already with NSB), changing production to another tank and that is however produced
We do not always all have the DLCs that the host has and some of the above examples were noticed in games where not everyone had all DLCs, but the host had it.

If it is not possible to play on an older version of the game, what do you then recommend when there is an update? My time is limited so I like to enjoy the game instead of noticing it gets ruined or ruines itself more and more because we continue to play in strange events

Thanks

You can roll back to previous major versions as described here

You cannot roll back to most smaller patches though. That's a steam limitation.

You might be able to prevent updates and start the game from the .exe and that might work? But that requires all of your friends to not update
