Hello, I have just started playing and I have made a colony and was wondering if I have to send colonist to every province or is there a way to invade uncolonized land from your colony

Once you have a colonial nation it will colonise provinces on its own and you can focus on another region.
Not certainly in that way. According to my observations, there is some kind of hidden trigger for net income. The colonial nation tries to have a net income between 3 and 4. Now, if the colonist fits into the expenses, which include the tariff, army, navy, etc., so that 3-4 coins remain in profit, he will colonize, otherwise not.

Which is why you should always subsidize your colonial nations for about 10 gold per month for about 10 years or whatever the default period is.

(Bit rich of me to say that coming from a 99% Ming player though, and I've only ever established colonial nations as Ming, so... yeah.)

日月山河永在!大明江山永在!
Translation: The sun, moon, mountains and rivers will endure forever! Great Ming's territory will endure forever! (Note: the character for "Ming" i.e. "bright" is literally the characters for sun and moon together, and "territory" is a phrase made from the characters for "river" and "mountain", so... it's very parallel.)

Just watched it last week. First, builds an army and fleet in the amount laid down inside, not according to the limit. Then he waits. As soon as you see a working colonist, there is always a net income of 3-4. The second is the same story. It is useless to immediately push, it will still build an army and navy. What he is going to build depends on the overall development of the colony, so in rich colonies he builds a large army and a large navy. From experience, the active work of the colonists begins somewhere after 10 in the Caribbean and Brazil, somewhere around 12 in Colombia, in La Plata did not wait. AI is about the same, just the numbers are not visible.

Sorry, stupid translator. They are not trying to fill the force limit, but the amount of what needs to be built is determined by the developers.

That's what I saw, that is. The Portuguese who built colonies nearby turned out about the same.
