Yeah, I have only seen ronin for hire once or twice.

Note that your Master of the Guard is 100 times more likely to find ninja than your Master of Arms is to find Ronin

(1000% ninja vs. 100% ronin)

It is because of this that I requested they implement a Ronin manufactory.

Ronins were supposed to get more likely with time as characters who lose their land should turn into ronins-for-hire. But I think Birken mentioned there had been some bug connected to this, but that it has been solved for the upcoming patch.

It seems random. Some games I've had Ronin turn up over and over without having to search for them. Other times I have my MaA searching forever and nada. It might have something to do with the clan you are playing and your location on the map.

I never really had a problem getting them either when I've played. My problem is that I never seem to have enough money to hire them when they decide to show up...

A ronin... manufactory? Unless you want a building that increases the likelihood that you will find ronin available for hire, I don't really see how this would work.

That's exactly what I'd like. Pay 250 gold for a permanent % increase of ronin appearing. Obviously, it wouldn't be called ronin manufactory, just as the ninja manufactory is called a theater.

In the development suggestion topic, I go into detail on possible suggestions for names.

Ronin will appear when they r around. I find they only show up when ur at war. U then get the option to hire them if u have enough gold. It also depends on ur honor and how many kori u have. In my current game i have 12% of japan and ronin come along a lot. But i dont need them as my standing army is 30'000 plus 100'000 levy. But the AI cheats. They keep raising levy in kori i have under seige. The rule book says u cant raise units in a kori if the kori is under siege. U dont need to search for ronin like u do ninja. They show up when their ready too. Ronin r homeless mercinaries looking for work. Their better than levy but not as good as ur standing army. Mainly due to they dont get replacements for losses like ur own troops do. When u need them the most early game u cant get them or cant afford them. When u can afford them u dont need them lol.

Other than the fact that this post makes my eyes bleed and I weep for the future, I've had Ronin show up when I wasn't at war.

If it says that in the manual, it's wrong. Both the AI and you are able to raise levies in a province under siege. The levy is added to the defenders and as such can do a sortie. Right now you can only do it by raising them from the army page but for the patch we're looking at changing the "Assault" button to say "Sortie" if you're the defender.

I've never seen one even after 30+ of play and literately none stop recruiting since year one. This is so even with many changes on the map. In my game I personally took out six factions and in other areas of the map large blocks are being formed and yet nothing...

Ronin and ninja move between kori, not clans. If they aren't in your personal demesne you can't hire them, so the number of clans you eliminate is irrelevant.

Good news!

I recall hitting the button that activates a Levy, in the army screen, when I saw that the troop limits were full for that province. It was actually under siege by about 7,000 angry Shimazu at the time, and most of my poor little 1500 Shoni warriors were sacrificed in a needless display of bravery-suicide. ;)

I thought it was great having the ability to sortie from the castle. Just forgot to bring a reinforcing army to help out is all.

To hire a Ronin you have to be lucky. One just appeared without warning and with no master of arms looking for it.

EDIT: Now they appeared 2 more times, without anyone looking for them.

Ronin did appear but rarely did I find them useful to hire. In the early game they are too expensive. In the late game they are not powerful enough to make a difference.

Ronin armies wander the map province by province. When they are in a province you own, you may hire them. Using the master of arms to recruit new ronin, makes nearby ronin more prone to walk to that province.
There was a bug with ronin spawning thoug, which resulted in very few ronin to recruit.
