How to give a duchy to one of my vassals?

Im the king of sweden, invaded and conquered finland. I created the title of "Duke of Finland," wanted to give it to one of my vassals, but everytime I try, the seal is grayed out. I can give away the countship's just fine, but I can't give out the dukedom. Is it because I created the title, and it's automatically in possession of my king? First game in CK, only played for 40 minutes or so, so if you have any other general information/FAQ/things that bothered you as a noobie - feel free to share. Loving it so far, exciting for CK2.

Well, only counts can become Dukes. Dukes cannot be unlanded. I believe that is your problem.

You can only give titles to counts who are direct vassals of you. Also if you have a demesne of just 1 province, then you can't hand out titles.
