How to get your CD code when bought with steam

I just bought the game (EU3 Complete for Mac) on Steam. Unfortunately, the CD Key from Steam is too long to register my game here:
Both are six groups, but while the forum only accepts 4 digits per group, the Steam CD key has 5 of them for all but the last group.
Steam-CD-Key format:
12345-12345-12345-12345-12345-1234
Forum Key-Format:
1234-1234-1234-1234-1234-1234-1234
Is there any solution for this?

I just purchased a copy of EUIII complete on steam. However every time I enter my cd key on the forum it says its invalid. Any suggestions?
I bought the Mac version of EU3: Complete off Steam as well, and my code was also too long to register here. I solved this by logging into a Windows version of Steam; when you go to My Games for EU3:C, a different CD-Key is listed which is the correct length.
I mailed with Paradox Interactive support and for Hearts of Iron III and EU III from Steam you have to just try entering as many digits as you can ignoring the rest. So if your key from steam looks like
12345-12345-12345-12345-12345-1234 than enter it like this
1234-5123-4512-3451-2345-1234
Also Europa Universallis III from Steam must registered as "pure" Europa Universalis III not as EU3 Complete.

What?? I never thought of trying this. Can someone else confirm if it works or not (for HOI3 in particular)? I'll try it tonight or tomorrow night.

Update - it worked for HOI3! I'm astonished and relieved. Now I'm a fully registered user.

Bought EU3 complete and HTTT on Steam. I was obviously able to access the HTTT CD key and registered the game on the forums. However when I want t play it says that the game will prompt me for a CD key-- it never does and the game is only In Nomine 3.2

I tried logging in on steam on a windows machine to get the 4-grouped EU3 complete cd-key. But... I cannot get it to validate on the forum. The HttT key validates, the EU3 one doesn't. Anything else I should be doing? I'de really like to patch :/

This is one solution that I can confirm works. Although it requires that Windows install or a different machine.
I just mailed Paradox support and they were very helpful on getting me the correct keys. I only feel a bit sorry that I had to clog their support with it, but they did confirm they are working on fixes.
It was suggested that I register my game. i bought EUIII Complete in the store. I see no code on the CD or box. there is a code in the setup.txt file, but the format is xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
It doesn't fit on the register screen.

This thread was intended for Steam users, but never mind ... is the the Paradox Interactive edition, or some other language publisher like Polish or Russian? If PI the box should contain an EU3 map, a page of Paradox lunchbox stickers and a single page Gamersgate advertisement listing five steps for registering your game, etc. The registration code is located on this sheet of paper just below step 5.

It was Paradox Interactive CD purchased at Best Buy. While I still have the box the CD and the map, I don't seem to have the manual and any other goodies that may have been in the box.

The manuals are PDF files on the CD, there were never physical ones for Complete..
If it is missing the Gamersgate ad it's incomplete; could it be second hand? If not take it back and swap for a complete one (you might ask to see inside the box to make sure it's there).

It was complete first hand purchase at a Best Buy, but almost 2 years ago just before we moved. I expect the booklet is in the pile of stuff we never have time to go through.
