As a kind-of new player how do I get the Turn the tables achievement(the achievement is "As a colony, break free and vassalize your former overlord.") Which country should I play as and which region should I colonize? Plus how can I do a world conquest as this colonial nation? An extra questions can I custom name colonial nations because if I can I want to custom name this colonial nation something like "the united peoples of earth" and take over the world. Any advice would be appreciated.

World Conquest is a very demanding achievement, especially for someone new to the game. It might be possible to do it as a CN, but the only real advice on that front is "play a few hundred hours first".

I played 88 hours of Europa Universalis 4, about 20 of those hours were with my castille game before the DLCs, I just recently got back into the game. Plus I've played 688 hours of victoria 2 so I'm not a complete new comer.

Wow, you play a lot of Vicky, don't you? Unfortunately, those hours of experience in Victoria 2 arent hours of experience in EU4.
With the coming updates it seems WC will be near impossible unless you are an expert. Nothing less than the finest expert.

Hard to believe you played 20 hours as Castile when you can't spell it's name properly heh

Sorry, it's just a pet peeve, and I used to spell it incorrectly as well, despite years of playing EU3 as mostly Castile.

If you want to very easily get Turn the Tables:

Start as Portugal
Break Alliance with England and make friends with Castile. Sell off Fez if either Berber doesn't rival you, or else just let it revolt away.
Split off 3 light ships and give them each an explorer
Send them off west, you MUST discover Bermuda and you want to reveal every piece of coast from the Gulf of Mexico up to Abnaki, iirc. Anything else (Caribbean, Africa, South America) is totally irrelevant.
Pick Exploration idea set.
With the range boost from Exploration, you can colonize Bermuda, which has no natives and therefore you don't need to send ships or troops.
From Bermuda you can colonize the East Coast and get a colonial nation going in 13 colonies region.
Take Expansion to speed things up.
Colonize everything that would add to your colonial nation and kill off nations within the region too.
Now here's the kicker : colonize a SINGLE province outside the 13 Colonies colonial region to the southwest (around like, Louisiana, I forget the province name and don't have the game open))
Sell all your islands and Iberian provinces except your capital to your colonial nation (or Castile, if you plan to never visit Europe again)
Move capital from Lisboa to the single non-colonial nation province you have in N.A.
Sell Lisboa.
Crank up Tariffs until liberty is at 55%+, release colonial nation and play as them, send diplomat to Portugal to ally, marry, and boost relations, then happily diplo-vassalize your OPM former lord.
Form USA and : quit from boredom / use former Portugal as a landing ground for European invasion

Despite?

For the OP, You can name your colonial nations whatever you want. I would recommend turning the tables as a very rich colonial nation though, so instead of forming lots of CNs, make one and sell them any new colonies you complete in the new world.

World Conquest as a Colony would be very tough though. You would have a large time handicap on the rest of the world, no ideas fleshed out and you have to conquer all of EuroAsiaAfrica and your home continent too.

Colonial nations do get idea sets, but they'll follow their own progression so the sooner you swap the more control over them you have. I think mine had most of Trade + Expansion completed and I swapped a few decades before Admin 10 came around.

What the? I know it was spelled wrong in EU3. Is it spelled with two Ls somewhere else? It pissed me off in EU3 because everything I'd ever read had 1 L as well, at least as far as I can recall.

Well, it's spelled "Castilla" in spanish, "Castille" in french and I guess in a few other languages I don't know about so, on an international forum, it may happen often due to the fact that "Castile" has one "l" in english only (?)

In my version of EU4, one L, in EU3, two, but I checked several of my history books (English authors), and 1 L. So ya, lol, I didn't know. Sorry to the OP, I no longer doubt you. French is a dying language, not used for business outside of a few countries. Die french, die! (I did not enjoy my french immersion program I was forced to take as a child, so I have a few issues there, and I hate the BBB).

Just did it with Ireland. Started as munster, conquer the rest of Ireland. England did invade scotland. Since I was allied with France i was brought into another war with England and start to loose some territory. Event worst, France become a minor nation under Castille and England was free to continue to eat me. Since i was 1 colony away to form my new nation I finish it with a lot of loan. I got bankrup and start to increase the tarrif. Break all my alliance and took that new nation. Since munster was bankrup without allie, I just make 3 ship and bring an army to vassalise my ancien overlord. It was quite easy actually.

Hey, it's written with a single "L" in Romanian, too, "Castilia". I hope you don't hate Romanian, too (I forgot if you hated single "L" Castile languages, or double "L" Castille ones :D) :p

Now that sounds like a challenge for the DDR!

Not really hard to believe. Everyone ain't a grammar nazi, I myself make spelling mistakes & it is not a big deal as long as the message is conveyed correctly to the reader.

Since in Spanish you pronounce ll as its own sound (more like "ye" or or in some regions "sh") I didn't even realize that English just spelled it with one l:eek:

Sorry to continue off-topic
on topic: I'm working on a norwegian turn the tables, but thinking it could also be fun (and with little competition) to take an indonesian nation and to use Australia to conquer back :)

Of course you could form 'Murica, so it'd really be a win even either way.
