Since the update I have trouble getting my empires of the ground. In the majority of the cases, I end up getting invaded by an ai that outproduces and outtechs me while I barely have a navy, a ship class behind and the inability to produce them. This is on normal difficulty btw. I am sure the problem is my mineral supply. I have trouble getting an income in the high thirties, let alone more. I tried a variety of strategies and nothing seems to work. I probably need to get my priorities straight. That leads me to some questions.
When to expand?
I tried expanding as fast as I could and I tried expanding to three planets quickly and stopping to develop them.
Specialized planets vs non-specialized planets.
I always created specialized planets but initially it didnt seem to work. I tried without them but that led to a constant struggle to maintain positive energy and a low mineral income.
What to prioritize?
I tend to prioritize planetary development over the stations. But that left me with untapped resources in my territory, no navy and no spaceports.
Anyone know the answers to this and other advice?
