How to get rid of Vassal limit

I seriously want to know how to get rid of vassal limit. I never got behind the whole limit so i didn't cared but now it's a big problem for me. I rule Byzantine Empire which is starting at Barcelona in the West and ending at Aral sea in the East at Danzig in the North and all way down to Somalia in the South. Up until now i managed my vassals quite well until i didn't passed 43 vassals limit. I had about 150 coins per month and 150k soldiers at my disposal. Now i have 50 coins per month and only 80k soldiers. It's really pain in my butt cause it restricts me to expand further which i would really like. I tried everything there was to try - almost all of my vassals are on kingdom tier, i have decentralized realm and no viceroyalties allowed. I tried to edit defines.lua and edited VASSAL_BASE_LIMIT but when edited it crashes the game right after the start. I also tried vassal mod at workshop but it doesn't did anything. I really need to lower vassal limit in order to continue the game (Im not even talking about how stupid and ahistorical vassal limit is).

Is there really no way how to get rid of it? I gaved up on my game until i won't find a way how to get rid of this. I was playing this save for 8 months and this is my most succesful game overall. I really don't mind any solution, cheats are also very helpful. Im not looking for decreasing my vassal rate (I have created every kingdom there was to create) and also im not looking for splitting my empire into two.

That's how you do it. You need to use notepad++ to edit the defines file, regular notepad breaks its encoding when saving it.
