How to get multiplayer working?

Hey all,

I really desperately want to play HOI2 (with or without expansions) multiplayer with my two brothers. We've tried in several different LAN networks, as well as googled endlessly for solutions, but nothing seems to work. Can anyone give us a tip on what we could do to fulfill our dream of conquering the world with Germany, Italy and Spain?
