As per the thread title, I can't receive the quest from Mell. I used every dialogue option with him, and this is the second time I do all the Bastard's Wound storyline.
I even tried doing the dungeon and visiting the three murals.
Before trying a third time, I'd like to know what triggers it and if there's some hidden requirement: thought the "gambling" quest may prevent Mell from giving me this one; which is silly, by the way.
Thanks in advance for any hint

I got it. Bone of the Beast, Blood of the Beast and History of the Oldwalls seem mutually exclusive.
Yes, they are.
The guaranteed way to get History of the Oldwalls: Part II is to leave Cassandra's tools be (Knapping on the Job) and tell Wagstaff that you don't like his tone (Tide Together).

How do I do this with Wagstaff?

How do I do this with Wagstaff?
For "History of the Oldwalls: Part II". If you discovered that the farm was damaged on Wagstaff orders during "Water Intoxication", then you can tell him "I know what you did" => "End this or I'll end you". Also you can tell him that you don't like his tone after completing "Tide Together" (i.e. not to give him the book or the tools should you obtain them). And, I think, it's possible to comment on his methods of purifying water after "Midnight Wanderer".
I haven't checked it after the last patch, though.

If you want to receive "Blood of the Beast" from Wagstaff, then, I suppose, completing "Tide Together" and giving him the book should be enough.
