Im modding the 1881 scenario- specifically the Alabama.CSV.

Im trying to force the majority of the POPs to be naturally conservative. (The scenario starts out with a heavily socialist leaning- I cant see where this is defined either)

When I edit the CSV ideology section to make certain POPs start the scenario as conservatives, it does not appear to take effect. The clerks are still liberal and the farmers/labourers still socialist. Im not getting any error messages. Can anyone advise please?

Cheers in advance.

Its been a year since I've had Vicky installed on a computer (upgraded to Vista) but I believe you are looking for:
~/Program Files/Victoria/CSV/Populations

Alternatively it might be in the scenarios bin, um... I cannot see them to make sure... so I am literally trying to mentally picture the Vicky folder...

Make sure that you are changing the correct CSV file for the 1881 scenario (ie not the one for another scenario)... and on top of that, you must remember that condidtions can also set the ideology... so the game mechanics might over-ride you, though I doubt this is the issue. Um... I really wish I had Vicky on my comp to help you more. Sorry. :eek:o

^Which files to edit is not the problem.

Im just not understanding 2 things-

1st- Why do these POPs start as socialists- where is this defined?

and 2nd- why isnt a direct command in the appropriate CSV. file changing their ideology as supposed to?

Is it possible that this aspect of the CSV is broken?

OK, seriously- has anyone got any clue how this works.

So, I defined in the CSV.file that I want the naturally liberal clerks to be conservative. So I define them as such and then lower their conciousness in the CSV- and they do indeed turn conservative. Hooray!

So I repeat the same procedure for the naturally conservative labourers who I want to be socialists (if not commies!)...define them as socialists and lower CON. This doesnt work- they turned into fascists!

Please help!

If you want labourers to be commies you'll, IIRC; need to *raise* their COn, not lower it :p

And yes, we have no idea why.

I think I tried raising it too, with no results...this is a god-damn mystery...

IIRC, the game mechanics will override the definitions in the POP files by turning POP ideologies into what the game thinks they should be given their innate characteristics and game conditions.
