I am in my secound start in 2.2 and reaching a point where to decide what ascesion path i want to go (gene moding or psionic). Gene modding seems to be outright stronger atm but psionic fits more in my playthrough. I have read, that there are problems to find zro for the psionic shilds so i wanted to know how/if i can check it in my non ironman game with the console, because i know myself, haveing the tech without an option to use it is going to destroy my playthrough. Is just switching to observer mode is not enought or does an empire need the psi shild tech? is there a way to search for it or do i have to look at all 1000 stars? How much zro is supposed to span in an 1000 star galaxy?

Thx.

The only zro deposit I found in my current game was located on the system of one of the leviathans. I believe it was the dimensional horror's system, but I'm not 100% sure.

That would be very nice, the dimensional horror is just sitting in the middle of my empire. Having a chance to get it there would be very nice.

So i have just to try it and hop i am Lucky. As long as its not nearly impossible im ok with it.

There is no Zro on the map at the start of the game. It is spawned via random empire events. You don't need any psi-tech to get this event.
100+ hours of post-2.2 play, 0 Zro found in games. This includes multi-player games with 3 players who have also found none.
Something's fucky.

It's supposed to be rare so don't expect to find it even if you go psionic. Most of the time your going to have to trade for it or claim it from someone else.

I understand the "it should be rare" but I find it really strange that it's THAT rare. Even in a large galaxy in the end game there is often 0 Zro (never found any in my 3 2.2 games).
This make psy shields an entirely useless tech which feels pretty bad.
Maybe there should at least be a unique shroud event that spawns a zro ressourse so dedicaced psy empire can harvest it.

The only anomaly that gives Zro requires you to already have the technology to mine Zro. The tech for mining requires second sensor tech and Psionic Theory. Good luck getting those while there is still something to survey.

Hum that may explain it. I tend to play with a good number of IA empires and I also survey agressively (often using 4 or 5 science ships) and indeed when Zro tech is done 99% of the galaxy is either under someone's control or already surveyed.

This is indeed a problem. I hope there will be a fix for it later so everyone can have a chance of getting it, regardless of settings.

I would like to have a building producing Zro. Yes it could be ridiculously expensive and generating very little but there should be something. Or make it buy able from the curators in small amounts , if needed bump up the Zro required for the components.

It can still spawn otherwise, maybe there's something else that influences it:

Don't have the tech, or psionics or anything, however after getting that system I did complete the Improbable Ceramics for the extra-dimensional research bonus and got the Wanderlust chain in this save as well. Feels like I'm being set up for psionic ascension. (This is in the beta test branch btw, 2.2.2 checksum (555a)).

I've tested this and there are occasionally maps that have zro at game start. I've only ever seen one deposit of it in space based resources per map, though. There's also a significant chance of there being no naturally occurring zro deposits at all.

You can check at game start by opening the console and typing resource. It'll give you a lousy of what resources have spawned.

Otherwise you have to rely on anomaly spawns, which are less than reliable.

The only way I've been able to realiably get zro is in the L-cluster. Since that's the one section of space that doesnt get explored before you can get the required techs that enable the anomaly.

I have tested it too and no natural zro for me in my huge(1000) star galaxy. That cant be WAD, or at lest i hope it is not.
there should be one garanteed in a tiny one (200) which would mean 5 in a huge one. still rare but manageable.

I have tested it too and no natural zro for me in my huge(1000) star galaxy. That cant be WAD, or at lest i hope it is not.
there should be one garanteed in a tiny one (200) which would mean 5 in a huge one. still rare but manageable.

For reference, I started 10 games with no mods enabled and Zro appeared naturally on 3 of the maps.

Dark matter is rare. Zro is more nonexistant

I'm not sure there should be buildings that produce it though, unless there's also buildings that consume it, because then it might be too easy to get.
