How to eliminate existing titles

I am currently in the process of redrawing the 'de jure' borders of all the European kingdoms in an attempt to balance their internal power structure. France, England, Italy, Poland and Germany are completed. I have eliminated 8 duchies so far but they were all non existent in the 1066 startup scenario. Now I want to get rid of Luxemburg which is held by a character but I don't know which file to modify for that. I've looked in the character files of France and Germany, the title files but nothing. Can I just delete the duchy in Landed Titles and reassign its counties to Lower Lorraine and the Duke of Luxemburg will revert to being Count of Luxemburg?

No, you also need to delete the file:Crusader Kings II/history/titles/d_luxemburg and edit the entry of: "liege="d_luxemburg" in the file Crusader Kings II/history/titles/c_luxemburg to another liege, like f.e. d_lower_lorraine
