How to declare war against an own Colony

Hi,

I am trying to do a one faith run in the moment and it is looking good so far. My problem is, it is already the year 1771 and one of my colonies has three catholic provinces since more than fifty years and is not converting them. How can I attack them and convert them myself?

You can't but with the new patch 1.23, you can convert provinces in your colonies and in your vassal's lands.

I started the game in 1.22.2

Grant them independence, wait for truce to end, conquer those 3 provinces, convert them. Then conquer remaining of your former CN in next war. Might be tricky, if those provinces are in region of another colonial nation but certainly do-able.

Granting independence is on page with all colonial nations and not in diplomatic action as with vassals and whatnot.
