So, I'm finally playing Sword of the Islam for the first time and after somewhat over a century I'm now a Sultan powerful enough, to take on my former lieges: the Fatimids. My problem is: How can I conquer them the fastest, without being able to use a Invasion CB (since I don't get any, we're both Shia)?

Pressing claims on Duchies may be a way to weaken them, but most of those new Emirs probably won't allow me to vassalize them, the only other way would be like eating away at them one County at a time or try to fabricate 4 or 5 claims and press them all in one war, but both would take a long time. Is their any smarter way to do it, that I don't see?

Pressing claims on Duchies is a proper way, but you forgot one important step: landing the fellow before you press his claim. If you do that, he'll remain in your realm, along with the new duchy.

Give him a castle in your realm then press

One of the fun parts of being islam is to use the invasion CB against rulers of other faith. Or you can simply just invade one single region just like that or an entire duchy by using holy war (just like christian)...

With other islamic leaders of the same faith (sunni - sunni, shia - shia), I suggest you try to improve relations (I'm playing Saladin Ayyubid as soon as he gained the sultanate of Egypt, 1171 and he has a very good diplomat as Grand Vizir) and offer vassalisation first of all. It works with good leaders. Otherwise, see above.
