I am doing an ironman playthrough as Fascist UK trying to get both One Empire and the New World Order achievements. It is January 1940, and the things are looking good. I took all of Africa, Middle East, Western Europe. Japan and Italy are my allies, so I am on my way to get both achievements.

I am about to take on the SU and Americas, but there is one problem- no matter how much I boost Fascist Party in the British Raj (it is over 60% now), they do not flip fascist, but rather stay neutral. I cannot do a coup, nor can I kick them out of faction. Will I sink in dozens of hours in this playthrough and still not get the New World Order?

Is this hardcoded and there is no way to switch ideology of your puppet? Would it not make sense for your puppet to flip to your ideology when you do, or at least start a civil war in which you can intervene?

Puppets can never change ideology through a coup. There is a possibility of a civil war. That war will be between your puppet and Free India (fascist). Your puppet will call you and your allies into the war against Free India.

You could always use console commands to solve this problem..

That sucks and does not make much sense. Surely, if you are a fascist country, you should be able to turn your democratic/neutral puppet to fascism. I cannot use the console, as this is ironman. Well, I can only hope that someone is in the same position as me and found a way to get Raj fascist or absorbed.

IIRC you can do it, but need alot of popular support to trigger civil war. There is also a random element to the events, and it's possible to wait a long time for them to trigger if you are unlucky.

Do they have to be fascist to get the achievement?

Yup, they do. I can wait, my only fear is that once the civil war starts (if ever), that Raj will call Japan and Italy into it and that they will crush the fascist. This does seem like a design oversight, I cannot believe that you cannot influence your puppet's ideology.

Don't hold your breath. I had a Democratic Sweden puppet with no elections and 90% fascist support and they never flipped or had a civil war. Finished the war and just waited for them to flip to get the achievement into the late 50's until I gave up. Puppets need more available interactions with their overlords especially if they are differing ideologies.

Good luck on your run.

Damn, I am afraid the same might happen to me. I guess getting One Empire only is OK too, and doing another playthrough for the New World Order. Which country would you recommend for that one? Germany, Japan, Italy? Should probably not create any factions to not risk my allies getting neutral puppets.
I do think that devs should fix this soon, it is not game-breaking, but it is strange how little interaction overlords have with their puppets.

Can you post that in the Bug Report forum, with full details, including a save game file please. For most practical purposes it doesn't matter - the puppet does what it's told, and supports your wars, even if a different ideology. But if it blocks some achievements...

Can you get rid of your puppets? I know that Turkey can get rid of Hejaz in the Great War mod. But is there any way? Like i want to annex all of europe with the Soviet Union and then create puppets. I know that some gamers have some kind of mod that makes you see what is the current possition of your puppet (autonomous, dominion, puppet, integrated puppet and colony) and i see that those gamers sometimes release a state and have options to make them their puppet or not and to choose if you want to play with them. Also if you get into a civil war like the ussr trostky civilwar if you win the civil war can you make mongolia and tannu tuva become non aligned like you? It really annoys me because i want to get rid of mongolia because i am at war with japan and they have pushed to ulanbataar and my forces can't recieve supplies.

Puppets can't change ideology peacefully, but it's only a problem in the immersion sense. If they're already your puppet despite the differing ideology, what's the harm in a little political unorthodoxy.

I would like to see this fixed, but it's a lesser problem among the issues of the current political game (or lack of such).

I am somewhat confused by this. It was my understanding that when you released/created a puppet they should be have a government corresponding to your ideology. Neither the Fascists or Communists are going to allow a rival or even neutral faction set up a government while under their thumb. Definitely report this so that @Havebeard and company can look at it, either something isn't working or something is coded horribly wrong.

That is the case for puppets created through a peace conference or as a result of releasing territory, but it is not the case for puppets existing at game start (e.g., Philippines, Japan's two puppets, the Dutch East Indies, and the UK's starting puppet, colony and dominions). In those cases, if the sovereign changes its ideology, the only way for the sovereign to force an ideology change at the puppets is to reduce their autonomy enough to annex them and then re-release them as puppets.

Thank you, I completely missed that part. Heck, with that bit of info now, I could even see that switching ideologymight cause increasing autonomy in puppets that are close to freedom, like a Canada or Australia.

If you have the Together for Victory (TfV) expansion, it's possible to decrease their autonomy so much that they become "diplo-annexed" - and then the achievement should trigger. That will probably take quite a while though, but I can't see any better ideans upthread either.

Necromancy is not allowed. A more than a month old thread should rest in peace (even more if for an OT follow up).
