Hi!

Finally i managed to vassalize the Jomsvikings as the Saxon Emperor. If I revoke the Jomsviking title the emperor gains it, but the succession law is still elective succession.

I want to gain the title because many of my commanders have left the court to become Jomsvikings and after reaching year 1444 i want to convert the game to EU4 to continue with Jomsviking ideas.

Is there any way to change the succession law of the holy order to primogeniture? I did read something that I have to grant the leader a kingdom that I have to revoke afterwards to gain the title, but after granting the kingdom of Lithuania to the Jomsvikings leader the succession law didn't change.

Is there something I failed to notice?

Thanks for any help.

Pretty sure holy orders, which are technically considered theocracies, are locked to open elective succession. You might just have to live with re-revoking the title every time you change emperors.

Not quite, they are locked to Open succession as long as they are Duke rank and so keep their holy order as the primary title.

If somehow a holy order obtains a kingdom title (you give it them, they win it in a crusader etc), they adopt the succession law of the higher title.

To do what you describe OP, you would first need to have a family member first lead the holy order and then have them succeed to the empire title bringing it under your direct control.

Be careful though, as leaders of holy orders aren't allowed to marry. You might still be able to take concubines though.

Since this information I consider to take the order title short before converting the game, because concubines give no spouse bonus to attributes.

The question is, what is the condition to unlock the Jomsviking ideas for the Empire ... Will the Jomsviking title have to be the main title? How to get the Jomsviking Empire if I already have formed the Saxon Empire? Is it even possible?
