How to change from presidental dictatorship to democracy?

I'm playing USCA. They start with a democracybut because of an event a reactionary party comes to power and I change to presidental dictatorship imediatly.

If i change my reforms I'll go back to democracy in a few days but since the same party is in power it changes back to dictatorship again...

Any way out of this?

IIRC this is mostly not possible, because presidential dictatorship doesn t allow any other parties ... In this case, you have to hold elections, and change constitution a month BEFORE elections. At month's end, you switch to democracy, and the coming election will kick your dictatorial party.

simply give voting rights universal sufferage then for parties select right to ban, then once the constitution changes, call an election and immediately change the party to something Conservative, Liberal or Socialist. otherwise the extreme parties will go back to Dictatorship before the election is done
