(I'm germany) on Very Hard difficulty, with Total Exploitation (and 0 revolt risk due to military police), i get 50% of the rare materials of any provinces i take... So far I've conquered all of europe except italy, and i get a total of 130 rares myself + 71 from trade with russia giving me a maximum potential IC of 400ish (200 rare materials * 2) of this 400 IC I have to spend
each IC can create 11 supplies
each military police + garison combo unit costs me .42 supplies (or .04ish IC)
each combined arms 9-9 strength sextastic unit costs me 6 supplies (or .5 IC).
Each coastal province requires half of a sexy-unit and each normal province requires about 1/3 of a garison unit.
So the benefit of conquering a new nation becomes:
IC cost of defending vs landings = coastal provinces / 4
IC cost of reducing revolt risk to zero = provinces / 100
IC benefit of rare materials they own = 1:1 (cuz you get 2 ic per rare, but i lost half of it to difficulty setting and the 'this aint yo nation' penalty.)
(lets use greece)
rares: 10.8 (benefit = 10.8 IC (will increase my rares per month by 5.4)
coastal provinces: 20 (cost = 5 IC (10 9-9 strength divisions each costing 6 supplies, which is really .5 IC))
total provinces: 38 (cost= .38 IC (13 garrison brigades and 13 military police brigades costing a total of 5.46 supplies yada yada))
Total value of conquering greece = 5.42
OK so we all understand how to calculate the value of defeating a nation, yay... Now for the big question: whom is not worth conquering? for example tunis has 0 rares, so politely refuse to be involved with them but less obvious examples like, turkey has tooons of coast and tons of provinces but only 4 rares, right? screw turkey...
WHERE BE THE RARES AT?
