That's called a rumble strip.In Danish it translates into the curb - Sort of. It's filled with a pattern of material that makes a loud, buzzing sound as you go over it - to keep sleepy drivers and drunk ones from driving into it.
In Denmark we just use bus pits for special bus routes - Basically shallow pits that are wide enough that cars will fall in, but busses pass right over.
we have speed bumps that are more like a mound in the road, they are not fully all the way across and are wide enough that they upset car drivers, but busses (and trucks and vans etc) are wide enough to drive over them with no issues.That's hilarious.
