I start to play as the chosokabe, sub clan of the Hosokawa, but the chosokabe leader isnt a Diamyo. Even so i managed to get 4 Provinces. but everytime i ask the Hosokawa leader to give me a Daimyo tiltle. He says: no. SO what do i need to do to get the daimyo title?

im controling Nagako Tosa and Hata and 2 other provinces, but even so my clan leader doesnt give me a Daimyo tilte. Maybe only members of a many clan can become daimyos? any official info on that? Since only playing with Retinue Troops is quite annoying.

To gain a title by force, you got to conquer the entire kuni to get it. It was rather annoying as I was playing Oda and a big blob had the last province I needed to control all of Owari.

Slightly related question.... what's the advantage to me as clan leader of giving out (or allowing my vassals to obtain) a daimyo title?

It's highly debatable if it is an advantage, many think not. There have been a couple of threads... search under 'Daimyo'.

Well generally you wouldn't want your vassals to 'obtain' one. Better to get it yourself then give it to them even if you want them to have it.

There can be more complex reasons, I don't feel I know the game well enough to say yet but -
1) you get 3 honour for giving away a title (daimyo or kokujin) but you do not lose any income when giving away daimyo
2) your daimyo can recruit more retinue (which can be an advantage but can also be a pain if you want to capture all the provinces yourself)
3) your vassals can then give away kori's (debatable as well whether you generally want this but you may)

The one situation most players agree it is worth giving away a daimyo title is to your heir.
