Due to various shenanigans, I lost the title of Tietäjä, the head of reformed Suomenusko faith. I currently have the current holder of the title as my vassal. Are there anyways for me to gain the title back?

If he's part of an expansive dynasty (IE: it's not practical to kill them all) then there are a few alternate theoretical possibilities:
  • Revoke title. (I assume this is disallowed by the game for some reason, otherwise OP should have noticed it. You may need to revoke all other duke+ titles before you're given the option to revoke the religious head. I'm pretty sure I've had the ability to revoke the Sunni Caliphate on numerous occasions; this should be similar.)
  • Manufacture a claimant, and press his claim. (Eg: Father a bastard on the daughter of the current holder, then kill the father and the daughter, which leaves the bastard with a weak claim, press it.)
  • If the current holder is of your dynasty (and is not theocratic), switch to elective/eldership/tanistry and elect him as your successor.
---

Honestly, the lesson from this situation is that reforming pagan religions with temporal leadership is a bad idea (unless you are willing to avoid all shenanigans for the rest of the run, which seems kinda boring). Don't do it. Heirocratic or autonomous are the way to go. The fancy hat is not fancy enough to compensate for the problems it causes.

Hmm thanks for the advice, I'll keep this in mind.
