Hi, I'm trying to correct some small problems with the Grand Campaign. I believe the Netherlands should own Sekondi, on the African Gold Coast. Willem sold it to England after the Belgian war to get back some money. I'd like to have him own the place at the start. However, changing that isn't easy.

I know sort of how you edit province ownership. The numbers under province indicate the ownership of each place. The amount of these numbers is equal to the number of provinces that exist in game. So if Sekondi is province 2173 the 2173rd number in the list will show you Great Britain tag number.

My beef with the system is this: How the *censored* can you tell where to look for the right province without counting every number on the list like a complete retard? Is there a trick that modders use to simplify this process? Please tell me how it's done efficiently, I really don't like it that I'm incapable of something.

Hey and look! I'm ranked Second Luitenant! :cool:

Vickywiki to the rescue

check out the Maps section - has maps with all the province IDs overlaid for quick reference.

Or the quick solution, paste this at the top of the HOL.inc file in the GC folder.

Code:
province = {
			id = 2173
			claim = trade_post
			claimant = HOL
			}

Put it above the start of the info in the HOL file, before the country line, and save.

Start up game will have HOL have a claim post in the province.

This does not actually change province ownership; it just affects the little maps that show up when you select a country. Ownership is determined by the country's owned_provinces list (in the relevant .inc file). To add a province to owned_provinces, you just need its ID number (which you apparently already know). :)

True for most provinces but not claim buildings. They do not show up in owned_provinces, only as a note in the province entry as OHGamer posted.
