Hi! I'm playing as a Scandinavian nation and would like to change my colonial provinces to more realistic names (why would provinces in the New World sound Latin when they never were in this alt-world?).

Whenever I attempt to use the alt-codes to add characters such as "ø" or "æ", it doesn't work. This befuddles me since some provinces in the game use these characters. For example, I'm trying to change the province of Taqamkuk to "Hjørne Bæk" (Corner Brook), but for the life of me can not figure out how. When I copy/paste as well, the characters just get confused.

I believe they are identified by numeric code - for example the console commands require that you identify the province by code - shown here http://www.eu4wiki.com/List_of_provinces

These are the same codes listed in EU4 / history / provinces

Taqamkuk is #981 and the file listed is 981 - Taqamkuk.txt
You could try changing that to 981 - Hjørne Bæk.txt
?

Or it might be you need to change #Taqamkuk on the first line inside the file to #Hjørne Bæk

Obviously that would negate ironman and I don't know if it would even work

Haha, I meant in-game, like when you double-click on a province name you are able to modify it. I am aware that you can manually do it outside the game via the .txt files, but I find that to be a hassle as you have to reload the game every time you modify something.
