How the hell Varangian adventure CB works?

So, I was playing as Norse viking, held Gotland and Nidaros as duchies, decided to go Varangian for Byzantine Crimea

When I won the war, guess what happened? All my counties in Scandinavia were lost except for 1 county and all the land in Crimea was taken by my brother who became my vassal.

????

How does this whole thing works? My dude literally didn't even get any land in Crimea at all

If you land any dynasty members as vassals before you adventure, they will take land in your adventure target.
The fact that you kept a county in Scandinavia sounds like a bug, all of your former lands should be released as individual counties to random characters.

I guess this county wasn't taken from me because otherwise I would not have an land
Still, why did my relative took land in Crimea? I dpn't get it
I mean, he took all of the land in the target duchy (3/3 counties) how does this work. I mean its not like I was invading for a kingdom, these 3 counties were literally all I had

However it does not tell you about the landed family thing.
If you are goin to do a Varangian adventure you should never land any family!
They will take counties in the title you declared for.

It's a bug. Same happened to me in my last game before ToTo while I was working for the achievement of Adventuring to India. During the second one, my brother got the island I was going for while I got his county that he got in the first Adventure. A cousin also held a county there, I had to revoke the titles from them both before finishing the Adventure for the Indian island to get it.
